In the first competitive move in what may become an A-list booking-war blitz, David Letterman has landed the comedian and film star Robin Williams as the first guest when “The Late Show” returns to CBS television Wednesday night. Skip to next paragraph Related Awkward Encounters in the Hollywood Trenches (December 31, 2007) Mr. Williams, who has always been a popular guest for all the late-night shows, will replace Donald J. Trump, who had been scheduled as Mr. Letterman’s first guest when it was expected that the show would have to return while still being picketed by the striking Writers Guild of America. But Mr. Letterman’s company, Worldwide Pants, reached a separate agreement with the guild last week that will allow his show, as well as the one that follows on CBS, “Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson,” to employ regular staff writers. With that agreement came support from the Screen Actors Guild for its members to appear as guests on the CBS shows, while they are still being encouraged to boycott the late-night shows on other networks.

Letterman Return with Full Writing Staffs

Just in time for the New Year, some fresh laughs will soon be back on late night television.

The Writers Guild and David Letterman’s company, Worldwide Pants, which produces Late Night with David Letterman and The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, reached an independent agreement Friday.

Those two shows will be allowed “to return to the air with their full writing staffs,” according to a statement from the Guild. “This is a comprehensive agreement that addresses the issues important to writers, particularly New Media,” which refers to the use of their work on the internet.

This is what an event movie should be. As a native New Yorker, my head was blown to bits when I saw how director Francis Lawrence depicts my hometown. The film mesmerizes you visually, engages your mind with questions of your own survival skills and rips at your heart thanks to a brilliant performance from Will Smith. Not only one of my favorites of 2007, but it's films like this that made me fall in love with movies in the first place.

Some good news for a change about Whitney Houston. She made a tremendous comeback last Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, performing several of her hits as if little time had passed.
Were we worried that drugs and alcohol had killed her voice? Yes, indeed. But video and audio from the concert, thanks to fans at the Live & Loud KL 07 show who posted on YouTube, reveal a cheery-looking, healthy Whitney hitting high notes and striking the right chord every time. Rumor has it that she will also sing in the Grammy’s with a duet with Alicia keys. Hopefully see will come back stronger then every. How refreshing to think that 2008 will be the year that the best singer of her generation will make a sterling comeback after a decade in the wilderness. Whitney Houston is definitely considered by many to be one of the most talented Diva's ever. Unfortunately since her marriage to "Bobby Brown" her career has almost seemed to quickly spiral out of control. Marriage to Bobby Brown was one of the main reasons that her career suffered in the first place. Now finally divorce with bobby things seem to be looking up.
hope that this comeback will help her return to the very talented Whitney Houston all known and love.

The singer risked going to jail over a missed court date, but judge says canceling tour would hurt people who count on him.
A Cook County judge scolded, lectured and threatened R. Kelly on Friday, but he ultimately spared the R&B singer a trip to the slammer for missing a court date.

Cook County Circuit Judge Vincent Gaughan allowed Kelly to leave the courthouse and perform Friday night in Chicago, saying he was concerned that bringing the singer's tour to a halt would be unfair to concert employees and fans.

But as yet another trial date approaches, the judge shortened the leash on Kelly and forced him to cancel a concert in Virginia because it was too close to a hearing date.

Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z are said to be “blissfully happy” after tying the knot in a small private ceremony in Paris, during which they reportedly had personal inscriptions tattooed on their ring fingers.

A source revealed, “They didn’t want all the attention that usually follows them around, they just wanted it to be intimate and romantic. It was lovely and they are both blissfully happy. They thought the tattoos would be a lovely personal touch.”

Angelina Jolie, who bagged a Screen Actors Guild nomination, admitted she got too skinny this year but says she was bothered by all the negative scrutiny.

The 32-year-old actress opened up about her weight loss in the new issue of Grazia magazine.

The “Good Shepherd” actress revealed, “The thing that’s disturbing is that instead of people saying, ‘This looks like a person that’s actually dealing with something, probably from emotions,’ they say, ‘Does she fit into skinny jeans and look thin?’”

She continued, “I want people to understand who I am as a person is not somebody that’s trying to look thin, but just trying to work through a very difficult year.”

About her partner Brad Pitt, she added, “He is just a great friend and when my mother passed, he was so great,” she said. “He sat with me and held [my mother’s] hand.
